Avionics System Test Engineer (Space Systems)

Salary: $121,000–$183,260 USD per year, depending on experience and demonstrated capability.

What you will do

• Support the design of Hardware-in-the-Loop test assets for system-level avionics validation and closed-loop use-case simulation.
• Capture test criteria with responsible engineers and system owners, then develop, implement, and validate system-level test cases.
• Develop interfaces for co-simulation strategies and integrate test equipment to build, commission, and sign off system test assets.
• Troubleshoot and debug avionics test systems and lead related design reviews and team efforts.
• Produce technical documentation and support handover of test systems to operators.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate complex projects and tasks within the Avionics Test team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or another hard-science discipline.
• 5+ years of post-bachelor’s experience developing, building, and maintaining hardware test systems.
• Confident operation and maintenance of Linux systems using command-line tools.
• Experience with power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters.
• Knowledge of electrical and wiring fundamentals, grounding, electrical safety, fault-tolerant and safety-critical software design, and root cause analysis.
• Must be a U.S. person under U.S. export-control rules or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.

Nice to have

• Satellite communications, telemetry, embedded systems, or space-system testing experience.
• Automated test systems, Hardware-in-the-Loop environments, and requirement-driven test plans.
• Python or C++ development experience, including Git, CMake, GNU tools, and CI/CD.
• Experience with issue-tracking tools, computer networks, or modular data-acquisition ecosystems such as NI, Weidmuller, or Beckhoff.
