Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++/Satellite)

Location: Site-based role in Carlsbad, California; Germantown, Maryland; or Duluth, Georgia. Employees work from a hirify.global office or work location at least 3 days per week. Travel up to 10%.

Salary: $140,500–$221,500 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $174,000–$261,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deliver, and support embedded software for Ka-band, L-band, and 5G satellite terminal products.
• Work as an individual contributor within an agile software engineering team under the guidance of a technical lead.
• Participate in software design, development, and code reviews to deliver reliable products.
• Collaborate with other software teams to coordinate development, quality, and timely delivery.
• Travel for work up to 10% of the time.

Requirements

• US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science or computer engineering.
• 5–8 years of hands-on software development experience using C/C++.
• Professional experience with Linux/UNIX and object-oriented development.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, ownership, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience using AI tooling in software development.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded systems, C/C++, Linux, unit testing, and component testing.
• Experience using Python for functional testing on embedded systems.
• Knowledge of operating-system fundamentals, IPC primitives, and multithreading.
• Experience with networking and communications systems such as telecom or SATCOM.
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub Actions.
