Location: Carpinteria, California, United States. Full-time, day shift, with occasional travel.
Salary: $160,500β$250,781 per year, plus eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits.

What you will do
- Manage daily operations, laboratory workflows, staffing schedules, and resource allocation for clinical-trial testing services.
- Ensure compliance with CLIA-CDPH-LFS regulations and CAP and NYSDOH accreditation standards.
- Maintain laboratory licenses and certifications and prepare the laboratory for inspections and audits.
- Develop and maintain quality management systems, SOPs, quality-control programs, proficiency testing, and corrective actions.
- Supervise, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate clinical laboratory staff while enforcing safety protocols.
- Support business development by presenting clinical-trial service capabilities to current and prospective customers.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs or masterβs degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological science, or a related field with 4+ years of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory; or a PhD in a relevant field with 2+ years of experience.
- Current California laboratory technologist license as a CLS generalist required.
- 3+ years of people-leadership experience managing clinical laboratory direct reports.
- Experience with high-complexity clinical laboratory testing, clinical-trial testing and reporting, and laboratory SOP and validation documentation.
- Experience validating laboratory-developed tests for companion-diagnostics clinical trials.
- Ability to work hands-on, independently, collaboratively, and with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Nice to have
- Knowledge or practical experience in anatomic pathology, histological techniques, and immunohistochemistry.
- Understanding of companion diagnostics and drug development.
- Experience with in situ hybridization, flow cytometry, laboratory automation, or laboratory information management systems.
- HTL/HT (ASCP) certification.
