Supervisor, Lab Operations, 2nd & 3rd Shift (NGS)

Location: Onsite in Fremont, California, United States. Available schedules are Sunday–Thursday, 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m. for the 3rd shift, or Tuesday–Saturday, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m. for the PM shift. Training hours may differ.

Salary: $72.10–$81.70 per hour, plus applicable shift differential. Full-time regular positions may also include a performance-based bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Perform, supervise, and report clinical laboratory testing on patient samples across extractions, library preparation, enrichments, and sequencing.
• Process specimens according to laboratory procedures and maintain accurate, timely patient records and result reporting.
• Select and evaluate quality control materials, troubleshoot assay and equipment issues, and document corrective actions.
• Support CAP audits, external customer audits, laboratory licensure activities, quality management, and onsite inspections.
• Train CLS and laboratory personnel, monitor non-licensed staff, and guide troubleshooting and deviation investigations.
• Assist with assay development and independently resolve complex laboratory problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science or a related discipline.
• Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) license.
• At least four years of CLS experience in a clinical laboratory environment.
• At least one year of experience in a lead role.
• Strong analytical skills, independent critical thinking, and the ability to resolve open-ended problems.

Nice to have

• Experience with manual DNA/RNA extractions.
• Experience with manual library preparation.
• Experience with automated liquid handlers.
