TL;DR
Manager, Production (Chemical Manufacturing): Leading and developing a high-performing production organization in a chemical manufacturing environment with an accent on safety, quality, cost control, on-time delivery, and employee capability. Focus on coaching supervisors and team leads, analyzing KPIs, improving yield and equipment uptime, and reducing scrap, rework, and downtime.

Location: Scarborough, Ontario, Canada; production-floor presence is required across early mornings, nights, weekends, and other off-shift periods as needed.

Compensation: $114,000–$143,000 CAD annually, based on candidate experience.

What you will do

  • Lead, coach, and develop Production Supervisors, Team Leads, and production employees across all shifts.
  • Build leadership capability through hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance reviews, and documented corrective action plans.
  • Champion safety programs, Safety Leadership Team initiatives, 5S activities, and a strong safety culture.
  • Oversee production quality, audits, work practices, work orders, inventory records, and compliance with established standards.
  • Partner with Scheduling and manufacturing functions to resolve production issues, manage schedule disruptions, and support on-time shipping.
  • Own operating-area cost performance, analyze KPIs, and drive improvements in labor efficiency, yield, scrap, rework, downtime, and equipment uptime.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of manufacturing experience, including at least 4 years leading and developing people and teams; chemical manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, customer-focus, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, standard manufacturing tools, and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and other off-shift support.
  • Lean Sigma Champion training or certification is required, or must be completed after hire.

Nice to have

  • Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Success improving yield, material usage variance, rework, scrap, and equipment uptime.
  • Experience in regulated or high-risk process manufacturing environments.
