Senior Observability Engineer/Developer

Location: Waltham, MA — Hybrid

What you will do

• Develop and enhance tools, applications, scripts, plugins, and integrations for monitoring and alerting platforms.
• Configure and optimize monitoring for servers, databases, networks, cloud services, infrastructure, and applications.
• Automate setup, reporting, and maintenance tasks using Python, Bash, and other automation tools.
• Design reusable monitoring components and integrations based on broad requirements.
• Research monitoring technologies, provide recommendations, and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with product owners, subject-matter experts, engineering, and operations teams on incident management, documentation, system health reporting, and capacity planning.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with modern monitoring and observability tools such as Zabbix, CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, or ServiceNow.
• 3+ years of programming experience with Python, Java, C#, or C/C++, plus Linux experience including Bash, cron jobs, scripting, and SSH.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, third-party service integrations, automation tools, GitHub or other source control platforms.
• Understanding of multithreading, distributed systems, concurrency, and security-minded development and operations.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and experience in regulated industries.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• ITIL knowledge or certification.
• TOGAF experience or certification.
