Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid; must support a customer onsite rotating schedule during regular business hours in Hanover or Columbia, Maryland, with some work from home. U.S. citizenship and a current Top Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance are required; SCI eligibility is highly desired.

Salary: $137,510–$180,000 per year.

What you will do

• Support development and deployment of AWS cloud infrastructure, especially EKS, as well as on-premise and portable edge infrastructure.
• Manage Kubernetes containers and AWS cloud infrastructure, including deployment, scaling, and maintenance.
• Automate deployment processes and ensure service reliability, scalability, high availability, and performance.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into the infrastructure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems, resolve complex issues, and continuously improve infrastructure processes and tools.
• Stay current with technologies and industry trends and explore improvements to the infrastructure.

Requirements

• Current Top Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance and U.S. citizenship are required. SCI eligibility is highly desired.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification, such as Security+, is required.
• Must support a customer onsite rotating schedule during regular business hours in Hanover or Columbia, Maryland; flexibility is required for schedule changes.
• 9+ years of DevOps Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor's degree; or 7 years of relevant experience with a related master's degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, including EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, and Lambda, and their use in infrastructure deployment and management.
• Proficiency in Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with application, container, and operating system deployment, scaling, and management; development in multiple languages such as Python, Bash, or Go; and familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and standard software development tool suites.

Nice to have

• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto.
• Experience with EKS, Diode, CI/CD, and Terraform.
• SCI eligibility.
• Availability for occasional on-call work.
