Propulsion Engineer III (Spacecraft Fluids) (Spacecraft Propulsion): Designing, analyzing, testing, and operating fluid subsystems for Blue Ghost and Elytra spacecraft with an accent on propulsion integration, hardware lifecycle ownership, and reliability. Focus on developing robust fluid-system designs, executing qualification and acceptance testing, building automation and data-analysis tools, and supporting vehicle operations and launch campaigns.
Location: Headquartered in north Austin, Texas. Work on U.S. government-regulated space technology requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

What you will do
- Own spacecraft fluid-system requirements, design, analysis, development, testing, qualification, and flight operations.
- Lead CAD design, propulsion-integration concepts, trade studies, and reliability improvements.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for spacecraft fluid systems and present design reviews.
- Plan and execute development, qualification, and acceptance testing, including data analysis and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and integration teams on fabrication, assembly, work instructions, and test procedures.
- Develop automation and test-data analysis tools and support vehicle test and launch campaigns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in fluid-systems engineering and/or propulsion.
- Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, tube and pipe design, and fluid-system sizing.
- Proficiency with CAD, FEA, CFD, MATLAB, or Python.
- Hands-on experience designing, fabricating, integrating, and testing hardware.
- Knowledge of valves, regulators, pressure transducers, tubing, pressurized hardware, seals, instrumentation, manufacturing, and quality control.
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- 10+ years of launch-vehicle or spacecraft propulsion experience.
- Experience with hypergolic systems, pressurized components, data-acquisition systems, or test instrumentation.
- Experience with tubing and piping flexibility analysis using Ansys, Caesar II, or Bentley AutoPIPE.
- Experience owning hardware from blank-sheet design through full operation.
