TL;DR
Propulsion Analyst (Fluids) (liquid rocket propulsion): Analyzing propulsion fluid systems and components, including propellant, pressurization, and feed systems, with an accent on analytical modeling, testing, and requirements verification. Focus on developing fluid network and CFD models, automating data-processing workflows, and translating cross-functional engineering questions into validated analyses.

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Flexible schedule and travel may be required. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain a U.S. export license under ITAR/EAR requirements.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

  • Analyze liquid rocket propulsion subsystems, including propellant, pressurization, and feed systems.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain analytical models for performance prediction, trend identification, and requirements verification.
  • Design tests and process data to validate models and establish system requirements.
  • Create automated workflows for data processing and review.
  • Collaborate with propulsion designers, test engineers, GNC, structures, and integration teams to convert engineering questions into analytical tasks.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience with fluids network modeling analysis using commercial software such as SINDA/FLUINT or GFSSP.
  • Analytical experience involving modeling, data analysis, or simulation through coursework, research, internships, or professional work.
  • Strong fundamentals in compressible and incompressible fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer, including hand calculations.
  • Proficiency with Python or another scripting language for analysis and data processing.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical results clearly with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • U.S. Person status or eligibility to obtain an applicable U.S. export license is required.

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of data analysis, model development, or numerical simulation experience for liquid rocket systems.
  • Experience with multiphase fluid modeling and acceleration-dominated fluid dynamics.
  • Experience with Thermal Desktop, ANSYS Workbench, ANSYS CFX, ANSYS Fluent, or Star-CCM+.
  • Advanced proficiency with commercial CFD workflows, including geometry preparation, meshing, setup, convergence, and post-processing.
  • Experience with Python libraries including NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Plotly, or Jupyter.
