Software Quality Engineer

What you will do

• Represent Software Quality and QA on assigned software development projects.
• Collaborate with software developers, firmware engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Review requirements and design documentation for clarity, testability, and traceability.
• Develop and maintain test plans and test cases, then execute functional, integration, and regression testing.
• Perform hands-on testing of laboratory automation systems, including sample preparation, microplate handling, liquid handling devices, and mass spectrometer integrations.
• Track defects and support software, firmware, and hardware releases through verification and validation activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or life sciences discipline, or equivalent experience in biotech, biopharma, diagnostics, or life science tools.
• 4+ years of experience with laboratory equipment, scientific devices, analytical instrumentation, or complex software-hardware systems.
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle and quality best practices.
• Experience creating and executing manual test cases based on requirements and specifications.
• Familiarity with JIRA or similar defect tracking and requirements management tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Professional experience in software quality, software testing, QA, or test engineering.
• Experience testing integrated software, hardware, and firmware systems.
• Experience with test automation tools or frameworks.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, VBScript, or similar scripting languages.
