Hardware Engineer - PWA / PWB Design

Location: Carlsbad, California, or Marlborough, Massachusetts; US citizenship required

Salary: $104,500–$164,500 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $129,000–$194,000 annually.

What you will do

• Develop, document, prototype, implement, and test high-speed digital circuit boards for network encryptors and embedded cryptographic devices.
• Design and assess electronic assemblies supporting data rates up to 10GbE, including processors, FPGAs, memory, networking, optical, and power components.
• Perform circuit modeling, simulation, schematic design, CAD work, and signal propagation analysis using Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, Expedition/Planner, and HyperLynx.
• Use laboratory equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, eye pattern analyzers, and traffic generators.
• Collaborate with system, programmable logic, application, validation, firmware, software, quality, production, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Support manufacturing, assembly, testing, production, and operational networks through hardware completion.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of hardware engineering experience and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing, prototyping, and testing high-speed digital circuit boards up to 10GbE.
• Experience with microprocessors, FPGAs, memory, networking, optical, and power supply components.
• Experience with design for manufacture, assembly, test, modeling, simulation, schematics, CAD, and signal propagation tools.
• US government position: US citizenship and the ability to obtain a United States Secret security clearance are required.
• Ability to prioritize work, meet schedules, coordinate across engineering teams, and travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of encryption, information assurance, and network communication technologies.
• Experience with PWB design and high-speed layout concepts.
• Trade study, make-or-buy analysis, supply chain, market needs, and customer use case experience.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent professional experience.
