Metallurgy Analyst (Critical Materials) (Minerals and Industrial Base): Evaluating critical minerals and materials projects, investment opportunities, and supply chain risks with an accent on technical feasibility, acquisition documentation, and program execution. Focus on assessing prototype-to-production initiatives, monitoring cost and schedule performance, and translating complex industrial base issues into senior-level briefings and analytical products.
Location: Onsite at headquarters in Arlington, VA; onsite at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA; or telework within the National Capital Region.
Salary: $99,000–$144,000 USD annually

What you will do
- Analyze critical minerals, materials, and industrial base supply chain requirements with DoD, interagency partners, and military services.
- Support the development and execution of an annual budget exceeding $1 billion across domestic and multinational minerals, materials, and infrastructure projects.
- Evaluate industry project proposals for technical, programmatic, and acquisition feasibility, and recommend investments and prototyping efforts.
- Monitor assigned projects for cost, schedule, performance, and technical progress.
- Conduct industry and stakeholder engagement, including virtual and in-person meetings, outreach, and site visits.
- Prepare briefings, official correspondence, analytical products, and strategic communications for senior-level decision-making.
Requirements
- Active Secret security clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in mineral processing, production, science, or technology analysis.
- Understanding of or experience with critical and strategic materials or minerals, mineralogy, mineral exploration, or geology.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to translate complex industrial base issues into clear reports and presentations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, plus the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-tempo environment.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting senior-level strategic staff environments or the Office of the Secretary of War.
- Experience with the DoW acquisition lifecycle and PPBE process.
- Experience briefing and advising senior military leaders, including Flag and General Officers.
- Experience applying scientific, program analysis, and systems engineering concepts to advanced manufacturing challenges.
- PMP, CSEP, or equivalent certification; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
