Quality Assurance Engineer (Steel Fabrication)

Location: Must be based in the U.S. (Austin, TX; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; or Remote)

Salary: $155,000 – $262,000 per year

What you will do

• Own supplier quality for steel fabrication and building systems suppliers.
• Audit fabrication shops on weld quality, dimensional control, and coating systems.
• Run source inspections on fabricated assemblies to catch defects before site delivery.
• Standardize quality requirements flowdown across all fabricators.
• Manage schedule impacts resulting from rejected fabricated work.

Requirements

• Must have U.S. work authorization.
• Proven experience in quality assurance for steel fabrication, including welds, dimensions, and coatings.
• Ability to fluently read weld procedure specifications and structural drawings.
• Experience managing schedule fallout from rejected work.
• Ability to bring shops up to standard through active oversight.

Nice to have

• AWS CWI certification.
• AISC-certified shop experience.
• Knowledge of NDE methods.
• Experience with modular construction QA.
