Senior Test Development Engineer (Fiber Optics)

Location: Alhambra, California, USA; onsite in the hirify.global Photonics Products group. International travel may be required for contract manufacturer production-station implementation.

Salary: $117,000–$165,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of production test stations.
• Develop and deploy automated test stations integrating Active Alignment systems and Pick-and-Place machines.
• Work with Device Design Engineering to define performance requirements, production tests, and specifications.
• Coordinate with engineering and quality teams to validate new production testing approaches and methods.
• Collaborate with software development engineers to add test updates and features supporting product specifications.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing test failures, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, electronics, manufacturing, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience developing automated test stations for semiconductor lasers.
• Extensive experience developing and integrating Active Alignment systems and Pick-and-Place machines, including end-to-end automated test-station development.
• Advanced knowledge of wafer probe test methodologies, ATE systems, parametric testing, and yield analysis.
• Experience in a semiconductor wafer fabrication and product-test environment.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: VBA, C/C++, or Python.
• Knowledge of automatic test equipment implementations.
• Proficiency with fiber-optics test instruments, including semiconductor laser controllers, optical power meters, and optical spectrum analyzers.
• Extensive experience in semiconductor laser and photodiode manufacturing environments.
• Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Nice to have

• Programming with APIs for test instruments.
• Programming and scripting in Windows.
• MATLAB.
