Senior Applications Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; primarily onsite at hirify.global and customer locations, with some cleanroom work. The role will transition toward a future high-volume manufacturing location as the customer footprint expands and requires up to approximately 30% travel, potentially more during onboarding and startup. Training may include Taiwan and the Netherlands.

Salary: $99,375–$145,750 base annual salary.

What you will do

• Lead technical execution for an assigned platform or project area, including YieldStar applications performance, control loops, or metrology optimization.
• Own workstreams and project plans across NPI, pilot-line execution, tool qualification, wafer introduction, and ramp-to-volume readiness.
• Act as the technical interface between hirify.global and the customer, translating on-product issues into structured lithography or metrology problem statements.
• Define experiments, analyze large scanner and metrology datasets, and use data-driven insights to improve yield, process performance, and tool configuration.
• Prepare technical presentations for customer technical leadership and collaborate with product, system engineering, project, local, global, and headquarters teams.
• Identify applications opportunities and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in IC manufacturing, lithography, metrology, or process technology.
• Experience supporting NPI, ramp, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Strong experience in data analysis and coding with tools such as Python, MATLAB, R, or JMP.
• Ability to work independently, lead technical workstreams, influence without formal authority, and own technical deliverables.
• Experience collaborating across cross-functional and global teams in matrixed environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder engagement, experimentation, and hypothesis-driven problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret large datasets, derive actionable insights, work under time-sensitive conditions, and support critical milestones.
• Initiative, self-direction, adaptability, continuous learning, attention to quality and detail, and execution discipline.
• Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under United States Export Administration Regulations before beginning work.
