RF Test Engineer

Location: Beaverton, Oregon, United States; onsite role. The position is subject to U.S. Government ITAR export-control requirements, and candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or able to obtain the required government authorization.

Salary: $83,400–$155,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop, qualify, document, and release automated test solutions for RF, microwave, precision analog, mixed-signal, and digital devices.
• Translate device specifications and customer requirements into test methods, limits, hardware architectures, and software routines.
• Characterize devices using VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, noise sources, oscilloscopes, source-measure units, and precision DMMs.
• Design custom rack-and-stack systems, switching architectures, load boards, probe interfaces, fixtures, circuit boards, and RF interconnects.
• Create test automation software and data workflows for instrument control, calibration, correction, sequencing, result evaluation, and production decisions.
• Transfer solutions into wafer-sort and packaged-device production while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, plus at least five years of relevant engineering experience or equivalent directly applicable experience.
• Experience developing RF or microwave test and characterization solutions for semiconductor devices, ASICs, packaged components, hybrids, modules, or comparable hardware.
• Hands-on proficiency with VNAs and spectrum analyzers, along with practical experience using complementary RF instrumentation.
• Knowledge of S-parameters, calibration, impedance and reference planes, insertion and return loss, gain, noise figure, linearity, signal integrity, and measurement uncertainty.
• Experience with RF PCB and interconnect design, schematics, layouts, fixtures, calibration, de-embedding, and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing automated test software with Python, C/C++, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or a comparable environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with wafer probers, probe cards, calibration substrates, wafer-sort applications, packaged-device handlers, or automated test equipment.
• Background in high-reliability microelectronics, aerospace or defense products, ISO 9001, or AS9100 environments.
• Experience with statistical analysis, test correlation, guard-banding, capability analysis, yield improvement, or production test optimization.
• Experience with precision analog or mixed-signal test, laser trim, BER testing, high-speed digital test, or networked test systems.
