Principal Engineer-Hardware

Location: Beverly, Massachusetts, United States. Candidates must provide proof of US citizenship, permanent US residency, or protected-individual status under US export-control regulations.

Annual base salary: $75,000–$232,000, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonus payments.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for electronic systems used in next-generation atomic clocks.
• Develop control systems using analog, mixed-signal, digital circuits, and embedded microcontrollers.
• Collaborate with software and mechanical design teams to deliver robust, producible products.
• Provide failure-mode analysis and troubleshooting support for new and existing production products.
• Guide and mentor electrical engineers on new product development and sustaining engineering practices.
• Design schematics, create bills of material and engineering change orders, and execute prototype test and qualification plans.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant hardware design experience.
• Strong understanding of analog design, including active filters and control loops, as well as mixed-signal circuits and data converters.
• Knowledge of the physical layer of USB, SPI, and I2C digital interfaces.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, product and process specifications, and Statements of Work.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams, conducting technical research, and preparing design reports.
• Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management tools; experience with Agile is desired.

Nice to have

• Component selection experience for space applications with radiation requirements.
• FPGA/CPLD and VHDL or Verilog design experience.
• RF and microwave synthesis knowledge.
• Crystal oscillator design experience.
