Staff Electrical Engineer (PCBA)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; 4–5 days per week expected in the office, with flexible work from home during project phases

Salary: $137,600–$273,600 per year, adjusted for geographic differentials outside Sunnyvale

What you will do

• Specify, design, and implement electronic systems at board and full-system level across analog, digital, and high-power circuits.
• Own the architecture, design, and documentation of system wiring and harness solutions.
• Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, software, and systems engineers to define requirements, build prototypes, validate designs, and troubleshoot issues.
• Define and maintain hardware and software test setups used during development.
• Lead reviews of specifications, schematics, layouts, test plans, and test results.
• Define manufacturing and end-of-line testing strategies and ensure handoff to manufacturing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
• End-to-end PCBA design experience covering specification, simulation, layout, prototyping, validation, and manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of analog, digital, and power circuits.
• Experience with microcontrollers and communication interfaces including USB, I2C, and SPI.
• Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other bench equipment for circuit- and system-level debugging.

Nice to have

• Experience with Altium Designer.
• Experience hand-building PCBAs and wiring harnesses for prototypes.
• Experience with in-circuit PCBA testing and EMC testing.
• Experience with mechatronic electrical systems and taking electromechanical products from concept to production.
• Ability to implement low-level board drivers with firmware engineers.
