Electronics Systems Engineer III (PCB Design)

Location: UK - London; hybrid work environment. Applicants must have the right to work in the location to which they have applied.

Salary: £70,000–£110,000 GBP base salary, plus bonus or commission.

What you will do

• Design production-ready multilayer PCBs in Altium for high-speed digital, FPGA, switch-mode power, and mixed-signal applications.
• Own the complete electronic hardware design lifecycle from requirements through production, compliance, certification, and manufacturing handover.
• Diagnose hardware issues independently using structured root-cause analysis and laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
• Evaluate system-level effects across EMC behavior, thermal performance, firmware integration, and long-term reliability.
• Collaborate with firmware, systems, and mechanical engineers to deliver integrated products.
• Support and mentor junior engineers, participate in design reviews, and improve engineering practices.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in electronic engineering or a similar field.
• Proven experience independently delivering multilayer PCB designs involving high-speed digital, power, and mixed-signal circuitry.
• Solid experience with Altium Designer, from schematic capture through layout.
• Confidence diagnosing hardware with laboratory equipment and structured fault-finding techniques.
• Experience taking designs through the full lifecycle, including hardware/firmware integration and manufacturing transition.
• Sound judgement in making technical trade-off decisions and clearly explaining the rationale.

Nice to have

• Python or C scripting for test automation or data analysis.
• FPGA development experience with VHDL.
• Familiarity with EMC compliance standards or reliability methods such as FMEA and derating.
