Technical Staff Engineer-Applications (Software/Firmware)

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; on-site, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Travel within North America and internationally may be required, up to 25%.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and 12.5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Extensive knowledge of SAS/SATA, SCSI, PCIe, RAID, CXL, NVMe, and storage technologies.
• Strong software and firmware development and debugging skills using C, C++, and TCL/TK or another scripting language.
• Experience debugging Linux and Windows operating-system drivers and applications.
• Experience with protocol analyzers, exercisers, logic analyzers, and storage or networking test equipment.
• Strong technical leadership, customer-facing communication, presentation, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with RISC, MIPS, or ARM embedded processors and lightweight embedded kernels such as ThreadX, VxWorks, or eCos.
• Knowledge of storage accelerators, server and storage firmware, server BIOS functionality, device drivers, TCP/IP, and local-area networking.
• Experience with AI/ML, deep learning, natural language processing, hardware and chip debugging, or high-speed debug equipment.
• Experience with storage management technologies including MCTP and BMC.

What you will do

• Support embedded firmware, operating-system drivers, and management software for SAS/SATA and RAID controller products.
• Support PCIe, security, encryption, and related datacenter and server technologies.
• Work with Tier 1 OEMs and ODMs on requirements, design wins, system bring-up, product ramp, and production support.
• Root-cause and document customer issues, leading cross-functional teams when needed.
• Create customer documentation, release notes, training materials, user guides, and application notes.
• Train customers and field application engineers and debug firmware and software at customer sites.
