Principal Embedded Firmware Engineer

Salary: $165,320.12–$247,980.18 per year, plus potential annual incentive and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Design and implement embedded firmware for client projects from ideation through production.
• Act as a player-coach by providing technical leadership and mentoring product development engineers.
• Architect robust firmware solutions for microcontrollers, embedded Linux systems, real-time runtimes, and electromechanical products.
• Debug complex hardware and firmware interactions using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other test equipment.
• Establish firmware best practices covering source control, DevOps, version control, and automated testing.
• Support project scoping, proposals, technical roadmaps, hardware demonstrations, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive embedded firmware engineering experience, with strong C and C++ expertise.
• 10+ years of electronic product development experience from concept through manufacturing.
• Experience with microcontrollers, UART, SPI, I2C, USB, GPIO, ADC, PWM, device drivers, and actuator, motor, and sensor control.
• Experience with embedded Linux runtimes such as Raspbian, Yocto, or Ubuntu, as well as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, and bare-metal programming.
• Experience with scalable software architecture, Git or Subversion, Jira, embedded development tools, Agile methodologies, project scoping, and estimation.
• BS degree in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field, plus strong technical and non-technical communication skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of FCC, UL, ISO 13485, or IEC 62304 standards.
• Experience with control algorithms, control theory, ROS, or Qt.
• Experience serving as a Scrum Master.
