Director - Analog IC Design

What you will do

• Lead IC Design Engineering for the Bristol office and partner locations across Europe and North America.
• Direct multifunctional NPI teams covering product definition, analog design, layout, validation, product engineering, test engineering, characterisation, and reliability.
• Drive complex semiconductor products from initial concept through full production release while managing schedules, budgets, equipment, and tooling within ISO-governed NPI flows.
• Manage and develop engineers, team leaders, and managers through mentoring, succession planning, engagement, and retention initiatives.
• Define technical strategy and technology roadmaps, and represent engineering requirements in budgeting, annual planning, headcount, tooling, and organisational decisions.
• Monitor team capacity, manage workload distribution, and ensure compliance with ISO and EHS requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in semiconductor engineering, including significant engineering management and project leadership experience.
• Proven success leading products from concept to full production release and contributing to market success and contribution margin.
• Experience developing product families to maximise market coverage with an appropriate level of design investment.
• Detailed knowledge of markets requiring signal integrity expertise.
• Strong collaboration, influencing, team-building, cross-functional leadership, and technical and business communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience designing optical communications ICs, including laser drivers, TIAs, or integrated transceivers.
• Knowledge of FTTH and datacentre interconnect markets and customer requirements.
• Experience managing engineering teams across multiple geographies and time zones.
• Experience building and executing succession-planning frameworks within engineering organisations.
• Experience in a publicly listed multinational technology company.
