TL;DR

Electrical Safety Compliance Engineer III (Electrical Safety and Global Certification): Conducting hands-on electrical safety evaluations, pre-compliance testing, and certification support for electrical and electromechanical systems across North American, European, and LATAM markets with an accent on UL/IEC standards, EU LVD, Machinery Directive / Machinery Regulation requirements, and product risk assessment. Focus on interpreting safety standards, coordinating NRTL testing, reviewing product construction and technical documentation, and resolving compliance issues through design and certification stages.

What you will do

Conduct electrical safety evaluations and pre-compliance tests, including dielectric withstand, leakage current, ground continuity, and abnormal fault condition testing.
Review product construction, schematics, BOMs, critical components, grounding, insulation, and enclosure designs for compliance.
Support UL/IEC, EU LVD, Machinery Directive / Machinery Regulation, and LATAM certification activities for North American, European, and LATAM markets.
Coordinate test plans and issue resolution with NRTLs and certification bodies such as UL, Intertek, and INMETRO.
Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering teams on new product introductions and sustaining engineering.
Prepare compliance reports, risk assessments, product descriptions, and certification documentation; provide hands-on testing support and occasional LATAM travel.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
3–6 years of experience in electrical safety, product compliance, testing, or certification.
Hands-on experience with hipot testers, leakage current testers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and laboratory equipment.
Knowledge of EU LVD, Machinery Directive / Machinery Regulation concepts, UL/IEC 61010, and UL/IEC 62368-1.
Experience with certification agencies or test laboratories, standards interpretation, compliance evaluations, and product risk assessments.
Fluent English, spoken and written, is required for collaboration with U.S.-based engineering teams and global certification agencies.
