Supplier Quality Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Bayan Lepas, Malaysia; residency in Penang is required. Some travel below 10% is expected.

What you will do

• Conduct supplier risk assessments, preventive audits, and comprehensive quality system audits.
• Identify critical assembly defects, customize audit criteria, and maintain supplier performance requirements and gap analyses.
• Review and close customer and supplier corrective actions, validate root-cause analyses, and lead supplier 8D teams on urgent quality issues.
• Monitor supplier product quality through scorecards, quality data analysis, trend charts, and ongoing reliability testing.
• Manage assembly and test suppliers across product qualification, technology transfer, NPI, and production.
• Facilitate cross-functional meetings, supplier business reviews, and continuous-improvement activities while coaching quality engineers, technicians, and suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in quality, process, product, assembly, or test engineering within semiconductor assembly and test.
• Experience with semiconductor packages such as QFN, DFN, WLCSP, wafer bumping, SOIC, SOT, FC, or COL.
• Hands-on knowledge of JMP or similar statistical database tools, 8D problem solving, and design of experiments.
• Knowledge of assembly and test processes, ISO 9000, ISO 14000, IATF 16949, AEC standards, and RoHS/EMS directives.
• Verbal and written English and the local language are required; residency in Penang is required.

Nice to have

• Process or assembly engineering experience in integrated circuits.
• Supervisory or management experience.
• Knowledge of an additional language.
