Associate Sourcing Specialist (Aerospace/Defense)

Location: On-site in Dallas, Texas, United States

Salary: $69,000–$100,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Source mechanical commodities such as machined parts, sheet metal, welded assemblies, structural components, fasteners, castings, forgings, and composites.
• Obtain supplier quotations, evaluate pricing and lead times, negotiate routine commercial terms, and execute purchase orders.
• Manage supplier relationships, track commitments and delivery performance, and escalate risks affecting production milestones.
• Collaborate with Engineering on drawings, specifications, bills of material, engineering changes, and supplier manufacturing requirements.
• Support new product introduction, prototype builds, material readiness, supplier qualification, and First Article Inspection activities.
• Maintain purchasing data in ERP systems while identifying cost savings, lead-time improvements, and process efficiencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain management within manufacturing or aerospace/defense environments.
• Experience sourcing mechanical commodity groups and managing supplier quotations, pricing, lead times, and purchase orders.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and manufacturing specifications.
• Basic understanding of CNC machining, welding, fabrication, finishing, and assembly processes.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel, plus strong organizational, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and First Article Inspection processes.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
• Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and export compliance requirements.
• Experience with prototype, development, and production programs, supplier performance management, and continuous improvement.
• APICS/ASCM or CPSM certification.
