Director, Patient Access (Healthcare Revenue Cycle)

Location: Onsite in Richmond, Virginia, with regional travel to other facilities within the market

Salary: $92,400–$127,000 annually based on experience, plus eligibility for annual incentives.

What you will do

• Provide vision, leadership, and operational oversight for onsite patient access staff across admitting and registration entry points.
• Lead front-end revenue cycle functions, including point-of-service collections and denial prevention.
• Build, coach, evaluate, and retain patient access and leadership teams while directing hiring and training.
• Establish accountabilities, staffing levels, communication strategies, and collaborative relationships with hospital and market leaders.
• Manage budgets, resources, programs, and projects while using KPIs to drive team performance.
• Explore, experiment with, and apply AI to improve processes and technology within healthcare finance operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience and 3+ years of patient access experience in a hospital or large health system.
• Experience in healthcare provider finance operations or a similar service environment.
• Experience leading front-end revenue cycle functions, including point-of-service collections and denial prevention.
• Advanced use of AI and experience managing teams that apply AI to process and technology improvements.
• Financial, project management, KPI, communication, organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
