FPGA Engineer II (Space Systems)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; US office work

Base pay: $102,400–$140,800 USD annually for California.

What you will do

• Collaborate with engineering disciplines to define FPGA firmware architecture and requirements.
• Design and verify FPGA firmware for Xilinx and Microchip FPGA and SoC devices.
• Develop documentation for FPGA operation and interfaces with software and other FPGA systems.
• Participate in module-level, unit-level, and system-level test campaigns, including automated testing.
• Support spacecraft development and gain opportunities to test and operate systems on orbit.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, software, or another engineering discipline.
• At least 2 years of FPGA firmware development experience.
• Proficiency in VHDL and a strong understanding of FPGA design fundamentals.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• US office candidates must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements, such as being a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Xilinx and Microchip devices and tools, UVM, VUnit, software-defined radios, or DSP algorithms.
• Experience with feedback control systems, radiation effects in spacecraft avionics, SEU/SEL mitigation, signal integrity, and digital timing analysis.
• Experience with SPI, UART, I2C, CAN, GigE, PCIe, embedded software, PCB designs, schematics, laboratory hardware, Git, JIRA, and continuous integration.
