FPGA Engineer (Satellite Communications)

Location: Redondo Beach, onsite. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations.

Salary: $125,000–$170,000 per year, plus potential stock options and benefits for full-time hires.

What you will do

• Design and implement satellite communication modem layers, from DSP blocks through network protocols.
• Accelerate complex protocols and algorithms into high-throughput FPGA blocks.
• Analyze timing and resource requirements for current and next-generation RF products.
• Create end-to-end test harnesses and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop high-performance libraries bridging FPGA acceleration, SoC platforms, and high-level applications in collaboration with RF software engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or another engineering discipline.
• At least 2 years of professional FPGA development experience.
• Experience with Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
• Experience developing for Xilinx FPGA or SoC products.
• U.S. Person status or eligibility to obtain an applicable U.S. export license is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Xilinx Vivado and PetaLinux.
• Knowledge of DSP fundamentals, including filters and PLLs.
• Exposure to satellite communications, encoders, PSK, and symbol synchronization.
• Embedded software development experience in C or C++.
• Experience with FPGA block simulation, test benches, DVB-S2X, or CCSDS standards.
