Senior Robotics Commissioning & Service Engineer

Location: Munich, Germany; on-site

Company

Develops humanoid robots and physical AI training infrastructure, including NEURA Gym centers where robots learn industrial skills in real-world environments.

What you will do

• Commission and maintain the 4NE1 humanoid robot on a ROS2/Linux platform.
• Integrate and calibrate drives, gear and actuator systems, sensors, and fieldbus communication.
• Execute bring-up sequences and verify firmware, sensors, and actuators before operational sessions.
• Analyze faults across hardware and software, reproduce issues, interpret logs, and isolate root causes.
• Operate 4NE1 during AI data-collection sessions and determine when issues require escalation.
• Set commissioning standards, document processes, provide design feedback, and mentor junior technicians.

Requirements

• Several years of hands-on experience commissioning, maintaining, or prototyping complex mechatronic or robotic systems.
• Vocational training, technician qualification, or degree in mechatronics, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Practical knowledge of actuators, gear systems, mechanical assemblies, drive technology, sensors, fieldbus communication, and robot kinematics or control.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical faults such as backlash, misalignment, and wear with standard measurement and diagnostic tools.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Ubuntu, SSH, ROS2 operations, Python diagnostics scripts, Docker, and TCP/IP networking.
• Fluent English required; German is beneficial.

Nice to have

• Experience with EtherCAT.
• Basic C++ and Git knowledge for firmware or configuration work.
