Associate Hardware Design Engineer (High-Speed PCB)

Location: Burlington, Ontario, Canada

Salary: $70,000–$75,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop evaluation platforms using bills of material, design tools, and manufacturing design rules.
• Perform schematic capture and PCB layout using Cadence Allegro and OrCAD.
• Conduct system-level signal integrity analysis and optimize high-speed board designs.
• Support mechanical design of fixtures and housings.
• Perform laboratory testing, hardware debugging, and optimization using VNAs, high-speed oscilloscopes, and probe stations.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and local and international suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or current bachelor’s program in engineering, physics, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of high-speed layout and electronic design.
• Understanding of RF, analog, and digital circuits.
• Advanced knowledge of Cadence APD and Allegro.
• Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and collaborate with other team members.
• Organized, adaptable, creative, and determined approach to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Additional degrees or certifications related to high-speed electrical modeling.
• Experience with PCBA technologies such as chip-on-board, wire bonding, flip-chip, optoelectronic devices, and high-speed connectors.
• Experience with high-speed modeling tools such as HFSS.
• Familiarity with microcontrollers and FPGA.
• Experience troubleshooting PCBs and electronic systems.
