Principal Analog IC Designer (SerDes)

Location: Toronto, Canada

Annual salary: CAD 112,000–208,000, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and develop analog and mixed-signal IC circuit blocks from initial concept and specification through final verification against customer specifications.
• Contribute to the design of long-reach SerDes.
• Design and validate SerDes blocks including drivers, receivers, serializers, deserializers, phase interpolators, low-jitter PLLs, high-speed clock distribution, ADCs, DACs, bias and bandgap circuits, and voltage regulators.
• Apply jitter analysis and signal equalization techniques to high-speed I/O designs.
• Use CAD tools for circuit simulation and post-layout verification.
• Collaborate with colleagues and communicate design solutions while solving complex technical problems.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience developing CMOS SerDes or high-speed I/O ICs.
• Thorough understanding of jitter and signal equalization techniques.
• Design experience with most of the specified SerDes circuit blocks, including driver, receiver, serializer, deserializer, phase interpolator, low-jitter PLL, high-speed clock distribution, ADC, DAC, bias and bandgap circuits, and voltage regulators.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Proficiency using CAD tools for circuit simulation and post-layout verification.
• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of common SerDes standards and their electrical requirements.
• Proficiency with layout entry.
• Experience with hirify.global tools and laboratory testing.
• Design experience at speeds of ≥16 Gbps and in technologies of ≤16 nm.
