Solar Installation and Maintenance Technician (Solar PV)

What you will do

• Conduct site assessments and support solar installation planning based on customer needs and roof specifications.
• Install racking, solar panels, electrical components, wiring, grounding, and related systems.
• Test, validate, and verify system performance and efficiency.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot solar system issues.
• Document installation and maintenance activities and collaborate with installation teams.
• Follow SANS installation standards, South African safety regulations, and required PPE procedures while driving to work sites.

Requirements

• National Certificate in Electrical Trades (N3) or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum One Phase Wiremen's License is compulsory.
• At least 2 years of experience in solar panel installation or a related field.
• Knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems, electrical fundamentals, SANS Wiring Code (SANS 10142-1), and South African safety regulations.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics, work at heights and in varied weather conditions, and lift heavy equipment.
• Valid South African driver's license required.

Nice to have

• Registration with ECSA as a Candidate Engineering Technician.
• Experience with different roofing materials.
