Service Engineer (Food & Beverage)

Location: Cape Town, South Africa; extensive travel of approximately 75% to customer sites across Southern Africa

What you will do

• Install, commission, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on food processing equipment and components.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, automation, and process instrumentation systems.
• Conduct root-cause analysis, resolve recurring technical issues, and escalate complex problems through internal channels.
• Provide production support and technical training to customer-site operators.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality assurance, and occupational health and safety procedures.
• Submit service reports, time logs, travel expenses, and formal correspondence accurately and on time.

Requirements

• Trade Tested Artisan or Technician qualification, or a National Diploma in Process Instrumentation, Millwright, Mechanical Fitting, or a similar discipline.
• At least five years of relevant technical experience in the food and beverage industry.
• Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting process instrumentation, pumps, valves, homogenisers, centrifugal separators, and high-shear mixers.
• Valid driver’s license and passport, strong mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders, work independently, and lead service engineers on larger assignments.

Nice to have

• Siemens S7-300, S7-1200, or S7-1500 PLC hardware and software experience.
• Familiarity with WCM/TPM principles and continuous improvement.
