Focus on debugging hardware, supporting environmental testing, and resolving interfaces across test, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams.

Location: Auckland, New Zealand

Company

hirify.global is an end-to-end space company developing rockets, spacecraft, and satellite subsystems for commercial, government, and defense missions.

What you will do

  • Design and develop flight-quality PCBAs for spacecraft avionics, including schematics, component selection, power electronics, control systems, and collaboration with PCB layout designers.
  • Perform worst-case analysis, power budgeting, thermal derating, and signal integrity assessments.
  • Bring up, debug, and verify prototype hardware, and support thermal vacuum, vibration, and EMI/EMC testing.
  • Create schematics, bills of materials, test reports, and design justification documentation.
  • Collaborate with Test, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, and other subsystem teams to resolve interface issues and support integrated system development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related field, plus 1–3+ years of electronics design or hardware development experience.
  • Strong knowledge of power electronics, analogue and digital circuit design, signal integrity, and grounding principles.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using eCAD tools, preferably Altium Designer, and circuit simulation tools such as LTspice or SPICE.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation, datasheets, component-level analysis, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills for cross-functional engineering work.
  • For New Zealand roles, eligibility to access equipment and data regulated by U.S. ITAR is required; nationality checks and background checks are conducted before employment offers.

Nice to have

  • Experience with DC-DC converters, linear regulators, power distribution circuits, or motor drive electronics.
  • Knowledge of radiation effects, thermal management in vacuum, component derating, or aerospace qualification testing.
  • Experience with detailed electrical analysis, DFM/DFT, Python or MATLAB, test automation, or FPGA development using Verilog/VHDL.
  • Understanding of requirements management and configuration control in regulated or high-reliability environments.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on real spacecraft and space hardware for commercial, government, and defense missions.
  • Collaborative, hands-on engineering environment focused on teamwork and practical delivery.
  • Work involves tight deadlines, high-pressure technical challenges, and continuous innovation.
  • Equal employment opportunity and reasonable accommodation support are provided.
