Senior Electrical Engineer (Digital) (Aerospace)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain a U.S. export license under ITAR/EAR regulations.

Salary: $145,000–$200,000 per year, plus potential stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the architecture, design, bring-up, qualification, and flight operations of custom digital circuit boards for software-defined radios.
• Design schematics and layouts for spacecraft digital electronics, including FPGA, memory, high-speed peripheral, and analog-to-digital converter systems.
• Contribute to spacecraft RF architecture trades and derive digital hardware requirements from system-level specifications.
• Perform digital-device and system simulations, laboratory development testing, and board- and system-level troubleshooting.
• Improve existing products through failure analysis, issue resolution, and hardware enhancements.
• Set high technical standards and mentor less experienced engineers while collaborating across avionics, RF, software, and mechanical engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience designing digital electronics.
• Proficiency in component selection, analysis, simulation, schematics, and layout.
• Knowledge of digital circuit design, signal integrity, timing, and strong electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Experience troubleshooting electronics at board or system level.
• Familiarity with high-speed digital simulation tools such as HyperLynx, Sigrity, SiWave, ADS, or similar.

Nice to have

• Experience with Altium Designer, electromagnetic simulation tools, and large BGA IC layouts.
• Experience with radiation-tolerant digital design, component derating, SEU mitigation, and fault-tolerant architectures.
• Knowledge of SRS4, DVB-S2, CCSDS, multi-gigabit SERDES, DDR4/5, PCIe, RGMII/SGMII, or Ethernet interfaces.
• Experience in a startup or agile development environment.
