Test Hardware Engineer (Electrical)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under ITAR/EAR regulations.

Salary: $110,000–$160,000 per year, plus potential stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain common electrical test hardware platforms for data acquisition, controls, instrumentation, power distribution, networking, and computer-integrated test assets.
• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable designs, bills of materials, assembly instructions, checkout procedures, and operating documentation.
• Develop standardized, reusable, safe, and maintainable hardware architectures for test systems.
• Support the full hardware lifecycle from requirements and procurement through fabrication, integration, commissioning, deployment, maintenance, and improvement.
• Collaborate with test operations, software automation engineers, IT, and other teams to configure computers, integrate assets, and troubleshoot electrical, software, networking, and infrastructure issues.
• Travel occasionally to test sites for asset bring-up, onsite debugging, and coordination with test teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with electrical test hardware, laboratory equipment, industrial automation systems, or similar engineering hardware.
• Experience creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and assembly documentation.
• Experience with EPLAN or similar electrical design tools.
• Working knowledge of data acquisition, instrumentation, sensors, controls, wiring, power supplies, networking, and electrical system integration.
• Hands-on experience with hardware checkout, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operation in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Four or more years of relevant hands-on experience and strong EPLAN project-structure, device-tagging, terminal-block, wire-numbering, panel-layout, reporting, and drawing-release experience.
• Experience with modular test hardware platforms, NI, Beckhoff, ifm, PLCs, real-time control systems, IO-Link, Ethernet/IP, or EtherCAT devices.
• Experience designing low-voltage systems, cable harnesses, grounding schemes, interlocks, E-stop and safety circuits.
• Experience with power supplies, signal conditioning, network switches, DAQ chassis, controllers, remote I/O, enclosures, carts, racks, brackets, sheet metal, Teamcenter, PLM systems, or configuration-controlled documentation.
