Staff Wire Harness Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Define Apollo’s top-level interconnect architecture for power and data distribution, grounding, shielding, and power/data separation.
• Lead harness routing across high-degree-of-freedom joints, including cable-life modeling, validation, and material selection for millions of cycles.
• Establish E-CAD workflows, libraries, drawing standards, and enterprise harness-design tooling.
• Lead trade-off analyses across electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing, including connector density, serviceability, mass, and thermal performance.
• Drive Design for Excellence initiatives and evaluate overmolding, ultrasonic welding, custom busbars, and other production techniques.
• Lead complex electrical failure analysis, supplier qualification, transition to high-volume production, and technical mentorship.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in complex electromechanical systems and a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or robotics.
• Expert knowledge of high-speed data and high-power distribution within space-constrained harnesses.
• Experience designing harnesses for high-cycle dynamic applications such as robotics, aerospace gimbals, or automotive doors and hatches.
• Advanced proficiency with Zuken E3.series, Siemens Capital, or SolidWorks Electrical, including database management and automated report generation.
• Deep understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation, shielding effectiveness, thermal derating, and IPC-WHMA-620 or related quality standards.
• Ability to communicate complex technical trade-offs as actionable recommendations for executive leadership.
