Operations Engineer (AIT Production)

Location: Hybrid, based in either Harwell, UK or Barcelona, Spain; applicants must have the legal right to work in the selected location.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain manufacturing processes for consistent quality, efficiency, and output.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement.
• Analyse production data, defects, yield, lead time, and cost to identify improvement opportunities.
• Define standard operating procedures and work instructions, and support production line setup, equipment calibration, and process validation.
• Improve data capture, traceability, and reporting with IT and systems teams.
• Ensure production activities meet quality, safety, environmental, and compliance standards.

Requirements

• Experience or strong understanding of manufacturing or industrial processes, ideally in electronics or aerospace.
• Knowledge of electronic assembly, including soldering, PCB handling, and ESD control.
• Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems and production data analysis.
• Working knowledge of RCA, FMEA, SPC, equipment calibration, maintenance, and process validation.
• Ability to document processes clearly and implement standardised ways of working.
