TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and improving repeatable manufacturing processes, documentation, tooling, and NPI transitions for mission- and safety-critical aerospace and defence products with an accent on AS9145/APQP, PPAP, DFMAT, and process quality. Focus on designing manufacturing workflows, mitigating PFMEA risks, reducing defects and non-conformances, and integrating automation and new tooling technologies.

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, UK. Candidates must be able to work in the UK without restrictions and successfully complete the required level of UK National Security Vetting.

What you will do

  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation for new and existing products.
  • Design repeatable and reproducible manufacturing processes and support product and process quality.
  • Lead the manufacturing engineering contribution to NPI, including transitions from engineering development into operations.
  • Define production requirements, build and test strategies, labour standards, tooling, plant, layouts, and process workflows.
  • Evaluate processes using PFMEA, support RCCA, FRACAS and MRB activities, and reduce defects and supplier non-conformances.
  • Support supplier selection, cost-effective make-or-buy decisions, manufacturing cost reduction, and the introduction of automation and new tooling technologies.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting AS9145 within an AS9100 organisation and leading manufacturing engineering engagement with NPI teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of the design, make, prove interface and Design for Manufacture and Test (DFMAT).
  • Thorough understanding of MRP/ERP systems.
  • HNC or HND in an engineering subject.
  • Qualification in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Strong communication, planning, organisation, self-management, and deadline-management skills.
