Senior Test Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $165,000–$205,000 base salary per year, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end automated tests across user interfaces, APIs, backend services, ML/AI algorithms, clinical computation services, and reporting layers.
• Build daily smoke and build-acceptance suites, lead post-deployment verification, and perform production monitoring-driven validation.
• Develop golden-dataset regression tests for ML pipeline services and visual regression coverage for WebGL-based 3D cardiac models and clinical applications.
• Extend Selenium and Playwright frameworks for stability, parallel execution, reuse, and reduced test flakiness.
• Standardize API and integration testing, including DICOM ingestion and HL7 output validation at hospital and cloud boundaries.
• Provide traceable test evidence for QMS activities, audits, CAPAs, regulatory submissions, and Ketryx-generated audit documentation while mentoring and coordinating other test engineers.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience in software test engineering, SDET, or quality engineering with strong hands-on automation experience.
• Direct experience testing Software as a Medical Device or other regulated medical device software is required.
• Working knowledge of medical device QMS practices and standards such as ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and 21 CFR Part 820 is required.
• Strong proficiency with Selenium/WebDriver and Playwright is required, including framework design, page-object patterns, and flake reduction.
• Programming skills in Python and at least one additional mainstream automation language such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or C#.
• Experience with API testing, CI/CD integration, AWS, distributed-system debugging, and traceable test documentation; a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ketryx, Jama, Polarion, DICOM, HL7, clinical validation, medical imaging, or ML/AI system testing.
• Experience validating 3D visualizations, managing synthetic or anonymized datasets, and applying statistical or tolerance-based regression approaches.
• Experience coordinating offshore or contractor test engineers.
• Familiarity with performance testing, data-pipeline testing, microservices architectures, and quality metrics.
