TL;DR
Senior Software Engineer – Quality Engineering (Playwright/Python/CI/CD): Building reliable automation frameworks and testing infrastructure for a digital identity platform with an accent on end-to-end, API, integration, and security-focused testing. Focus on testing distributed event-driven systems, progressive delivery, automated rollback, identity and access management validation, and AI-assisted test engineering.
Location: On-site five days per week in Mountain View, California, United States
Annual base salary: $190,978–$231,050 USD

What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain automation frameworks using Playwright, Python, Jest, and API automation.
- Develop end-to-end and integration testing strategies for asynchronous, event-driven, and eventually consistent distributed systems, including Temporal-based workflows.
- Implement testing-in-production practices such as canary deployments, progressive rollouts, synthetic monitoring, and automated rollback triggers.
- Own security test automation for OAuth 2.0, OIDC, authorization models, secrets management, and tenant isolation.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and define reliability metrics such as time to detect and time to remediate.
- Partner with engineering, product, and security teams to improve testability, investigate root causes, close coverage gaps, and apply AI-assisted testing practices.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience in modern web applications and distributed systems, or an equivalent advanced-degree combination.
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright, Jest, and API automation.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or ArgoCD.
- Ability to work on-site five days per week in Mountain View, California.
Nice to have
- Experience with REST APIs, microservices, distributed and event-driven architectures, and Temporal.
- Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML 2.0, SCIM 2.0, enterprise identity providers, RBAC/ReBAC, and multi-tenant authorization.
- Experience with security and compliance testing, canary rollouts, contract testing, performance testing, observability, or chaos engineering.
- Experience with Java/Spring Boot or Ruby on Rails, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and agentic AI testing tools.
