Java Developer (Spring Boot): Building and maintaining ING's Spring Boot-based API SDK for secure, resilient, and high-performance APIs with an accent on framework development, platform integration, and developer experience. Focus on designing microservices infrastructure, integrating service discovery and service mesh capabilities, and implementing security and observability features across distributed systems.
Location: Bucharest, Dacia One, Romania; flexible work from home or the office

What you will do
- Develop and maintain core components of the Spring Boot-based API SDK.
- Build features focused on security, resilience, observability, and backward compatibility.
- Integrate the framework with infrastructure platforms, service discovery, service mesh, and proxy-based deployments.
- Design user-friendly APIs and configuration interfaces, documentation, testing tools, and reference implementations.
- Support teams adopting the SDK and review community contributions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Java development experience.
- Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Maven, resilience patterns, and service mesh concepts.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, OAuth2, JWT, PKI, mTLS, Prometheus, Grafana, and centralized logging.
Nice to have
- Framework or SDK development experience.
- Experience with Kafka, API gateways, OpenAPI, PostgreSQL, or Cassandra.
- Background in financial services or regulated environments.
