Staff Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote from the United States; listed locations include Denver, Austin, Boston, Dallas, Durham, Miami, Portland, Salt Lake City, Scottsdale, Seattle, and Tampa

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/Node, and Python services.
• Develop RESTful and gRPC APIs integrating with agentic GenAI systems.
• Build and support AI agents, MCP servers, and other AI-enabled tools and frameworks.
• Optimize MongoDB and PostgreSQL queries, service performance, scalability, and testability.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and cross-functional squads to define and deliver features.
• Lead complex technical projects, improve architecture and toolchains, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building web services or full-stack applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/Node, Python, or similar backend technologies.
• Deep understanding of APIs, PostgreSQL, and performance tuning.
• Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term technical investments and continuous quality improvement.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• Remote work is limited to the United States.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts.
• Experience with LLMs or AI-driven toolchains such as LangChain or LangGraph.
