Staff Backend Engineer (Cloud Systems)

Salary: $161,000–$224,000 per year, plus equity and potential performance bonuses

hirify.global builds a vertically integrated space communications infrastructure with a global network of phased-array ground stations for satellite missions.

What you will do

• Design and develop cloud-based scheduling and orchestration systems for global antenna network access.
• Build customer-facing APIs and interfaces for scheduling, real-time communications, and data routing.
• Design control and data planes integrating on-premises and cloud environments.
• Develop billing and metering systems for resource usage tracking and invoice generation.
• Create orchestration systems for antenna operations and collaborate with customers, network operations, and software teams.
• Define secure, scalable interfaces for telemetry, tracking, control, and payload data transfer.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years building and scaling cloud-based services and production APIs.
• Experience with distributed scheduling systems, resource allocation, or booking platforms.
• Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of cloud architecture, distributed systems, API design, authentication, and access control.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. export authorizations under ITAR regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Rust, Go, or other languages suitable for cloud services and distributed systems.
• Experience with global-scale customer-facing platforms and high-reliability systems.
• Event-driven architectures, message queues, billing systems, usage tracking, or subscription management.
• Kubernetes, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Satellite communications, simulation and modeling, or related aerospace experience.
