Staff Software Engineer (Kubernetes)

Salary: USD $140,400–$372,300 per year, plus potential bonus, stock, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate Kubernetes-based platform systems supporting hirify.global production services.
• Improve reliability, scalability, operability, capacity efficiency, and lifecycle management across the Kubernetes and Hubbernetes fleet.
• Lead cross-team platform initiatives involving AKS migration, fleet management, control-plane reliability, and workload migration.
• Define migration paths, operational standards, platform direction, workload guardrails, and incident-response improvements with service owners and infrastructure teams.
• Debug complex production issues across Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, Linux, containers, networking, observability, and distributed systems.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship through design reviews, code reviews, incident response, and follow-up reliability work.

Requirements

• 9+ years of software engineering or equivalent experience, with a track record of delivering and maintaining production software; degree-based experience alternatives are accepted.
• At least 2 years of experience with large-scale Kubernetes fleet operations, cluster lifecycle management, capacity management, or workload migration.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience building or operating Kubernetes and cloud-native platform systems in production.
• Experience with production systems across cloud infrastructure, Linux, containers, networking, observability, and distributed systems.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to lead ambiguous, high-impact technical projects across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service or Kubernetes on Azure.
• Experience with platform engineering, developer platforms, internal infrastructure products, or infrastructure-as-a-service systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes controllers, operators, CRDs, admission control, scheduling, autoscaling, service mesh, or multi-cluster networking.
• Experience improving reliability through SLOs, observability, incident response, automation, and operational readiness practices.
• Go experience and prior Staff-level technical leadership on broad-impact projects.
