Software Engineer (Go)

Location: Remote, associated with New York City

Salary: $210,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Contribute to the architecture and implementation of Astro Platform's core systems and components.
• Build and iterate on features based on user requirements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Develop customer-facing public APIs and infrastructure technology with frontend developers, product management, and customers.
• Improve the platform's usability, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Work on core capabilities including authentication, billing, alerting frameworks, and platform reliability.

Requirements

• Track record of building performant, scalable, and reliable backend systems.
• Experience developing services with Go and orchestrating services and dependencies on Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with SQL databases, especially Postgres.
• Advanced understanding of distributed systems concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
• Experience using AI coding assistants and LLMs such as Claude, Cursor, or Gemini for prototyping, testing, refactoring, and documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spanner.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Experience with Apache Airflow or related workflow orchestrators.
• Experience with billing, authentication, and related critical business systems.
