Staff Backend Engineer (Java)

Location: Hybrid role based in Culver City, California, with an expectation of working from the office three days each week.

Salary: $181,000–$265,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead engineering best practices, mentor engineers, and develop high-impact solutions.
• Analyze and solve complex problems across multiple user personas and workflows.
• Build and scale services, customer-facing web applications, and performant product features.
• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ELT processes.
• Build data integrations from established requirements.
• Perform data analysis to investigate and resolve data issues.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building precise, scalable distributed systems.
• Experience or ability to work with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, AWS, Postgres, and Kubernetes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong ownership, communication, resilience, assurance, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to mentor engineers and collaborate across teams.
