Vice President, Product Engineering (Nuclear Energy)

Location: Must be based in the United States and work on-site at the Austin, Texas headquarters. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Persons compliant with 10 CFR Part 810.

What you will do

• Lead the engineering lifecycle for reactor modules from Preliminary Design exit through Final Design closure, manufacturing, Factory Acceptance Testing, shipment, and commissioning handover.
• Direct Heads of Product Lines and Module Owners across Fuel and Core, Reactor, Steam Generator, Turbine Generator, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, Refueling, and Artificial Intelligence.
• Own configuration control, engineering drawing release, integrated BOMs, work instructions, fixturing, and assembly plans.
• Serve as final approval authority for module designs, manufacturing drawings, and FAT results while resolving technical issues directly on the factory floor.
• Lead technical authorship and defense of FSAR or DSA safety submittals and provide engineering input to licensing and regulatory interactions.
• Align Product Engineering with Programs, Operations, Supply Chain, Research, and Regulatory Affairs on manufacturing readiness, procurement, design basis, safety, and schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, nuclear, aerospace, electrical, or a related engineering discipline; an advanced engineering degree is preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive engineering experience in highly regulated, safety-critical hardware industries, including successful delivery of complex field-deployed hardware.
• Experience as the senior technical leader on a major hardware program with schedule, budget, or P&L accountability.
• Direct experience releasing engineering drawings to manufacturing, owning FAT outcomes, and producing or reviewing drawings, BOMs, FMEAs, and qualification test plans.
• Hands-on familiarity with ASME Section III, ASME NQA-1, ASME Y14.5, or equivalent standards, plus experience defending technical positions before a federal regulator.
• Proven experience building and leading engineering teams of 50+ people, including senior technical managers.

• Experience with modular, factory-built, or transportable nuclear systems.
• Experience at a venture-backed hardware startup scaling a product from prototype to high-rate production.
• Experience operating deployed plants or industrial platforms alongside design-authority responsibilities.
• Experience integrating specialized welding, precision machining, additive manufacturing, or automation into regulated production.
