TL;DR
Staff Product Manager, Applied AI (Robotics): Driving the product vision and roadmap for Apollo’s physical AI model stack, translating industrial customer use cases into deployable capabilities with an accent on foundation-model integration, data strategy, and safety. Focus on defining evaluation criteria, sequencing autonomy capabilities for real-world deployment, and aligning hardware, software, data, and operations teams around scalable humanoid-robot products.

Location: Mountain View, CA, United States. The role includes time on lab and manufacturing floors and travel to supplier and manufacturing sites as needed.

Annual salary: $215,000–$245,000

What you will do

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, milestones, and release cycles for Apollo’s physical AI model stack.
  • Drive the integration, adaptation, and fine-tuning of foundation models into the robot’s autonomy stack while balancing capability velocity, reliability, and safety.
  • Translate customer use cases into model requirements, acceptance criteria, benchmarks, and deployment gates.
  • Define the data strategy, target tasks, collection methods, tooling, and quality standards supporting model development.
  • Prioritize customer use cases and product features based on business impact, feasibility, and user needs.
  • Partner with industrial design, UX, engineering, marketing, customers, and data operations teams to develop and commercialize interactive robotic features.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product management experience; the broader experience requirement includes at least 10 years in product management or engineering.
  • 5+ years leading product managers and a track record of shipping complex hardware products.
  • Strong understanding of robot learning techniques, including imitation learning and reinforcement learning.
  • Experience integrating, adapting, or fine-tuning models and understanding the constraints of running large neural networks on physical edge devices.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, including translating technical insights into business impact.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, systems, robotics engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

  • Experience with autonomous robots or autonomous vehicles.
  • Experience using simulation tools to improve user experience.
  • Experience with data collection operations, including teleoperation fleets, annotation, and curation pipelines.
  • Experience with customers in light- and heavy-duty industrial environments.
  • Experience with robotics and functional safety standards such as ISO 10218, ISO/TS 15066, ISO 13482, and RIA 15.08.
  • Advanced degree or MBA.
