Safety Manager

What you will do

• Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, yard walkthroughs, hazard identification, and corrective-action tracking.
• Manage incidents and accidents on site, including investigations, scene documentation, insurance claims, and regulatory reporting.
• Administer DOT drug and alcohol testing programs, including random testing, violation management, and return-to-duty coordination.
• Maintain driver and attendant credentials, Driver Qualification files, training records, and compliance documentation.
• Oversee driver training, onboarding, route qualification, refresher training, and the Non-CDL to school bus driver certification pathway.
• Track safety metrics and communicate trends and findings to location leadership and district administrators.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional safety management experience in the transportation industry.
• In-depth knowledge of FMCSA regulations, pupil transportation laws, and OSHA/DOT standards.
• Commercial Driver's License required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex data and findings clearly.
• Ability to manage incident investigations, regulatory reporting, credentials, training records, and audit readiness.

Nice to have

• Experience in school bus or passenger transportation.
• CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.
• CSP, CDPT, SBDI, or another relevant safety certification.
• Experience with vehicle camera and monitoring systems.
• Knowledge of FMCSA 49 CFR Parts 382, 391, and 395 and applicable school bus standards.
